“No man ever thought of impeaching a man for an opinion.” — Gov. Edmund Randolph, speaking for the Constitution at the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788

Edmund Randolph would have been astonished at Day #2 of the Trump impeachment trial, as the prosecutors repeatedly called for conviction because Trump had dared to express his opinions. One of those opinions, floated before the election, was that he’d win if the balloting was conducted fairly. Thus, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) charged Trump with telling “his supporters, the only way he could lose the election is if it was stolen. … He truly made his base belief [sic] that the only way he could lose was if the election was rigged.” What’s the political reality? First, candidates on the campaign trail routinely predict victory, even when they know the odds are stacked heavily against them. It’s an expression of confidence. Any admission of uncertainty on this score is virtually a concession statement. And we all know that if Trump had admitted the slightest possibility of defeat in an honest election, within minutes the mainstream media would have been proclaiming his imminent political demise. Are Executive Orders the will of the people?

In a potential sign of the hurdles to come, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) sent a warning shot during one of his first floor speeches back in the minority. Republicans, he warned, were willing to work with Biden but also wouldn’t be shy about blocking bills they don’t support. Because of the 60-vote legislative filibuster, Democrats will need at least 10 GOP senators to pass most things.

11 Feb 2021, Maintain our Sanity

I’m finding it difficult to keep the uncivil discourse out of our home. The news is at a scale of sensationalism and it’s awfully hard to read without getting emotionally involved.

Project Engineering: Layout new ductwork. With a variable speed compressor the temperature drop in the ducts has a much greater affect on the performance. The reason is that the forced air temp can be just a few degrees above the room temperatures. (Meaning that a few degree change becomes a large percentage of the heat/cool capacity into the room.) I’ve doubled the insulation on the 6″ ducts since they had the greatest surface area per volume of air. I’ve also doubled the long trunk line to the Master Bedroom since it’s length and the two 6″ ducts were affecting the air significantly. I encased the 8″ duct to the kitchen inside a 12″ duct. (Pretty easy actually.) and ran it to the vent over the microwave. I also encased 25 Feet of 8″ duct inside a 12″ duct for my cave yesterday. Reminds me of a really old Star Trek…

This is looking West inside my attic, I built a floor above the insulation.

Heat pump and ducts are working pretty well, I have the guest bathroom to fix. I measured the temperatures of the rooms and how they responded to the heat sent into them.

8 Feb 2021, Riots continue

I was really hoping that the riots would take a pause as their administration they elected gets their boots on. Apparently that is not the case. Here you can see typical acts against police, they don’t “Break” the law, but they don’t abide by it either. They are trained how to abuse 1st Amendment rights to intimidate.

Heather Higgins, chairwoman of the Independent Women’s Forum, suggested that the left’s current narrative of “unity” is coming across to the other side as being asked to “accept guilt” and “shut up.”

“There’s a lot of ‘we need to unify,’” Higgins told Jan Jekielek, host of The Epoch Times’ American Thought Leaders program on Jan. 20. “That’s the language now.”

But she said the unity they’re talking about is “‘you need to accept guilt for anything that we say that you need to accept guilt for,’ even if you’re not guilty; ‘you need to shut up, and you just need to go along with and comply with our point of view,’” Higgins pointed out. “Which is extremely unhealthy.” Heather Higgins: Silencing People and Forcing Them to ‘Accept Guilt’ Not the Way to Unity (theepochtimes.com)

6 Feb 2021, Vote-a-rama?

The budget resolution, filed Tuesday, is the first step in a budget reconciliation process that would allow Congress to quickly approve President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus package, CBS News reported. 5 Feb 2021, Marjorie Taylor Greene

News organizations “can take teeny, tiny pieces of words that I’ve said, that you have said, any of us, and can portray us as someone that we’re not,” she said. She added that “we’re in a real big problem” if the House punished her but tolerated “members that condone riots that have hurt American people.” Greene was on the Education and Labor Committee and the Budget Committee. There was no apparent precedent for the full House removing a lawmaker from a committee, a step usually taken by party leaders.

This is about all I have left of my parents.

Fix the wireless!

The wireless remembers every network it has ever touched and there’s no way of turning it off!

Narrative: I’m skipping the time bullets today. I’m up very early, we’re trying to get our COVID shots this morning. Things went very well, we had lunch then took a good long nap. It was hectic for the next few hours. Fish for dinner and a movie is waiting.

Feelings: As Christians we are compelled to look after the Widows and the poor. Just how we do that in this climate when there is so much energy fighting the democracy I don’t know.

I am very angry with CF, we’ve had this long running drama about letters and I am slap wore out trying to get them to do their part. I am going the rounds with CF and I am pretty angry at them. I told them to be honest, if I am 100th in line or what I want isn’t going to happen for months. Tell me!

The red boxes are months without mail. The child writes a letter every month.

Retirement: We’ve spent 10K on an air conditioner, need to make that up.

4 Feb 2021, COVID response

The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a budget resolution that lets Congress pass President Joe Biden’s CCP virus relief package without Republican backing. The 218-212 vote was entirely along party lines, except for two Democrats, Reps. Ed Case (D-Hawaii) and Jared Golden (D-Maine), who sided with Republicans against the resolution. Rep. Ron Wright (R-Texas) missed the vote. House Passes Budget Resolution to Set Up Partisan Vote on CCP Virus Package (theepochtimes.com)

Narrative: I’m skipping the time bullets today. I’m up, where’s my coffee? I have to play catch-up with my blog. I didn’t enter anything for yesterday. This morning I got caught up on the news, checked my air conditioning performance and helped the wife order groceries. This afternoon we put the groceries away and went for a walk. I tested a DC-DC converter on my 28V solar controller to charge the R600 (Max 24V) it worked ok, but I didn’t have a lot of sun today. I did get my new Onyx 16 today!
