Upgraded several “Creta” routers and had to un-brick one of them that I apparently unplugged while it was being upgraded. I was in awful pain this morning and decided to take a hot bath, now I am sleepy. No new letters from our CF children, I did upgrade Josephine’s gift to $60 with her newborn baby.
Checked in with the HAM guys this morning while I scanned the news. I never did get access to both networks from my workstation, the firewalls are not cooperating.
Lunch was at Outback; I had salmon she had shrimp.
We “Checked In” for the appointment with Emory on Tuesday . The surveys we had to fill out were very enlightening and I found out that our crowded house was affecting her emotionally.
We cleaned out her “Sewing” room today, that made her happy!
We got a letter from CF but were unable to find it on their website.
Tuesday (Rain)
Checked in with the guys on the HAM radio and we worked on our organization.
We had a visit with Emory doctor today and I felt very good about the plan ahead.
We are still not building our grocery lists OR planning meals as we should. Went to lunch at Outback again today.
I worked on upgrading my routers and firewalls, I still cannot get access to both firewalls from the Sophos router.
Wednesday (Church)
Checked in with the guys in the HAM radio and she was just sitting at the table looking unhappy. I decided to head back to bed.
Upgraded my FortiGate 60E to the same firmware as the 60F, there is one more major revision above the one I used this morning.
Had my cup of coffee and I heard my uncle on the radio this morning for the first time in months. Big day today, like HUGE even!
Traveled to Emory to talk with a Social Worker about our situation. There are so many faucets of dealing with MCI, we need to prioritize those endeavors. Mild cognitive impairment As you age beyond 65 years, you may occasionally forget names and words and misplace things. (8% of people aged 65 to 69.) With mild cognitive impairment, you frequently forget conversations and information that you would typically remember, like appointments and other planned events. Beyond 65 typically MCI interferes with your daily, routine activities. Mental abilities include:
Memory. *Short term memory Reasoning and judgment. *Executive thinking Planning and completing complex tasks. *Documenting or Following directions. (We noticed all these changes more than two years ago.)
Dementia involves a decline in mental function from a previously higher level that’s severe enough to interfere with daily living. A person with dementia has two or more of those specific difficulties, including a decline in:
Memory. (Still short-term memory for now) Reasoning. (Difficult on both of us) Language. (Nothing noticeable) Coordination. (Nothing noticeable) Mood. (Other factors, but difficult on both of us.) Behavior. (Free Spirit, very little planning initiative.)
We were told no exchanging presents because we voted for Trump, we’re still scrambling to determine our path for the Holidays. The most desirable path is to have Thanksgiving with Paul.
Tuesday
Spent the morning going over next steps and reading the recommendations given to us. We have hamburger to cook, and we went out and had Salmon at Outback SH for lunch. It was $55 but we have a bit of drama with the family that is sucking up our time. Dinner was another tuna salad sandwich on rye tonight with Cran grape juice.
Wednesday
I checked in on the radio and talked with my cousin Patty today. We went to Outback SH for lunch, and we did church virtually. Didn’t get anything done today on the house.
Thursday
Got on the radio and I heard my uncle check in, YEA! There’s so much to do and I am floundering in all the faucets of this. Didn’t get much done today either, I had dinner out with Jon, and she had dinner out with Barb. We took a nap when we got home and watched TV for the evening until we went to bed.
Friday
Got onto the radio and checked in with the HAM guys this morning while sipping on my coffee. I did not have a chance to eat breakfast with the usual morning drama these days. Lunch was hamburger stroganoff with broccoli.
We finally managed to get out and get groceries today, it’s been 10 days. We also setup a telehealth appointment with a Psychiatrist on Tuesday morning.
Saturday
Got up late, did not get onto the radio this morning.
The Fortigates are cooler on the ends, but they promptly fell onto the floor.
The new Fortigate 60F is back on a wire rack over the Security Camera DVR.
At the urging of an Emory doctor, I pulled the cork board off the pantry. I replaced it with a dry erase board so that we can jot down things to buy as we need them.
We got out and picked up some paper supplies at Wally World after getting the dry erase board at Staples. Dinner was a tuna sandwich while we watched a new Hudson and Rex and the end of National Treasure.
Sunday (Rather Cold)
Got onto the HF radio and checked into WW net this morning. Our electric bill dropped $30 this month. I’ve not heard back from Gwinnett County about our taxes and I am getting long on the vine for the estate taxes.
Church was fine, we didn’t get much done in the home. I did work on my network for several hours without getting very much done.
Got up early and made a batch of boiled eggs for breakfast.
Made some easy contacts using digital protocols.
Checked in on the Waterway net this morning and sent a message to CF about adding a date to their gift portion of the website. There’s a cutoff date that the gift is delayed four weeks until the next rollup. They also don’t tell you what day of the month they are going to withdraw funds.
Spent a good part of the morning checking in with Emory and sending test E-Mails to the family.
Lunch was pork tenderloin and veggies. We forgot to turn on the Crock Pot server, so we improvised with a couple of bowls.
Added water to my garage UPS batteries, I could not find where I added water last in this blog. Boo! I did a run test using the microwave as a load and got good results.
Checked my sugar level and it was 130 mg/dL, I grabbed a couple 10Lb weights to burn off to 124. 132 is the Green/Orange line.
Tuesday (Emory)
Woke about 820 and managed to get checked in on the Waterway Net. Paul called and we chatted about doctors and appointments for a little while.
No breakfast today, my Sugar level was 120. Lunch was leftover Pork Tenderloin and veggies. We warmed up and ate the entire dinner in less than 30 minutes. WOW I was thinking it would take 30 minutes just to warm everything up… No word from CF today, their website has been underperforming for years.
She put the laundry detergent in the bleach compartment today.
My cell phone gave me a huge warning yesterday. YOUR external SD CARD IS READ ONLY.
Bowl of soup for dinner with rye bread instead of crackers, it was quite good. Watched the election until wee hours in the morning when Trump came on stage and gave his victory speech. I updated a couple of my GL.iNet routers that new firmware was released. I was surprised though that all the router models were not upgraded, especially the “Mango” router which is all over my network. I bought a license for my FortiGate 60E and had a difficult time with getting back onto their website. The FortiGate 60F is at a reasonable price and I bought one to replace the 60D that’s on Comcast’s network.
I’ll still have to get a license for the firmware, but the appliance will get here tomorrow.
I did a speed test on AT&T fiber today. I am getting over 900Mbps symmetrical (up and down) speeds, pretty handy working with the video files on the website.
We happened upon OAN while we were in Las Vegas and we’ve watched it as our primary news source ever since. She’s even given up the Nightly News at 18:30 which was a staple in our home. I’ve had three cups of coffee, time to check my blood sugar. (My feet are complaining.)
Took a huge nap after staying up all night watching the election.
We had Ham for lunch with potatoes and veggies, we drove to Emory and had tests taken after that. Soup and a nap before attending Wednesday church.
Thursday
Got up early, we had a Dr. Appt at 8:30 so no radio today. It was that misty kind of rain this morning that dust your windshield just enough that you have to run the wipers. He sprayed a couple areas on my hairline, and we headed back home. We did a few errands and took a quick nap before heading out. We headed out to outback S.H. Lunch was pretty terrific, they were out of Modelo though. Had to drink Fosters instead. The waitress that brought us our food last week was fired over the weekend, I didn’t ask why.
Back home, we needed a nap before we went shopping.
I found out how much we have to pay for the blood test on Wednesday! (They estimated the cost between 4 and 500 dollars, they missed!!!)
We got some meat and dairy at Kroger this afternoon. We are running late on our grocery run with the two appointments in the morning this week.
Friday
Two of my routers GL.iNet Slate are no longer supported. I replaced them with GL.iNet Opal routers this morning. I mount a 5V DC-DC converter on top of the router so that it can be run on 12V over long distances. (Replacing wall warts.)
With retiring five Slate routers, I don’t have any spares. Opal routers are only $38 which is just over a “Mango” at $29, but have far greater speeds.
Checked in with the HAM guys on the Waterway Net this morning, the noise level was a little high and copy was weak.
My mg/dL was 117 this morning
We had Grandma’s chili for lunch, we only ate about half of it. I also cooked up some red potatoes to have with my can of soup at 17:30. We emptied the van of all the stuff I pulled from the garage. (I can almost see the floor.)
Saturday
I dropped a gallon (Full) on the floor in the kitchen and the sides broke off making a HUGE mess this morning. There was only one egg left and without milk that ended up to be my breakfast this morning.
Warming our plates for dinner while getting our server tray ready.
Testing ways to warm the bowls in the winter too.
Upgraded the Mango VPN router to a faster “Shadow”.
I use that VPN to run my HF radio and build network components. Sometimes the network protection interferes with downloading firmware and other software that I need. It also keeps data away from ISP (And other) prying eyes.
I have a new project, replacing my aging Fortigate 60D that’s not supported anymore.
The good thing is that the major user of that network is the TV and I can move the TV onto AT&T until I get it up and running.
Met online with my children for the first time in months. My son has a new job in Colorado, and it just snowed 10″ out there.
Sunday
I was in terrible pain this morning, slept in until well after the HAM Waterway Net time. I need to reorganize and prioritize my time. The new firewall firmware is much like Microsoft and their Windows operating systems, things are often moved/hidden from obvious places. The network seems to be functioning this morning, yesterday the computers were having difficulty reaching the Internet.
Had leftover grandma’s chili for lunch and we took an hour nap. Edited the Sunday service and which was a cinch with Gigabit Internet.
Upgraded the firmware, it took several hours to figure out how.
Someone asked me If I voted for Trump. I was taken back by the question because we just elected our president, and any debate about who to vote for can be set aside for several years. To me if I were to decide to ask someone who they voted for, I would tell them who I voted for FIRST! Otherwise, the “Asking” who you voted for in this tribal world is setting up an unequal power conversation where one is taking the position of judging the other. I am certain he understood all this before he asked.
Checked in with the Waterway Net on my HAM radio and read some news.
I can’t really go much further without clearing the garage.
As you can see, the garage needs to be sifted.
Got a call from Uncle Paul this morning and I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast. We drove out to Interstate Battery Center and offloaded about 100Lbs of batteries. I tried to deliver some insulation to Southern Seasons, but there was no one at the office. We ended up picking up a sandwich at QT and driving back home with another trip to storage.
She put paper towels under her plant on the buffet, they were soaking wet.
The surface of the buffet is showing water damage from over watering her plants.
We repotted the plant into a larger one that has a tray underneath.
Checked my Sucrose is a little high, 9:35PM @ 143, 11PM @ 146
Tuesday
On my HF radio, there’s a bit of a pileup this morning on the Waterway Net. This is one of the busiest days I can ever remember. I did not hear my uncle Paul. We went to vote early, there was no one else in line so it was a great time to vote.
Checked my Sucrose 01:28 @ 123, 07:38 @ 114. Both of us had a sucrose level of 150 at bedtime yesterday, we did eat a couple snacks while we were watching TV.
She loves to watch the news and to a lesser extent these campaign rallies. It is discouraging at times listening to them accuse everyone but themselves.
I’ve been using the living room as a place to sort through what we’re going to keep, give or toss. On occasion our living room gets so full that our lives are dragged down by the crowded condition of our home.
Our “Serving” Crock Pot heats the table underneath it.
I tried a hot pad underneath with excellent results. The underside of the Crock Pot appliance temperature is virtually identical as the clay pot inside.
(The sides are not insulated, and the pot is flatter than the cylinder ones. The only way that the appliance can get up to temperature is if you wrap it. It doesn’t have enough power to overcome all the heat lost. (The food can end up ~2 hours in the red zone temperature.)
But hey, it’s great as a heated “serving” dish, and that’s what I bought it for. We turn it on at 10AM so that it’s good and warm when we put the cooked food in it.
Dinner today was chicken thighs, veggies and sweet potatoes. Unloaded the van at the storage unit today. Next is to clear the garage out so that it can be used to store the stuff on the floor of the living room. It’s too warm and bright sun, this looks like a job for tomorrow. I didn’t see the compressor in the storage unit, so I bought a new one, it’ll be here tomorrow.
Wednesday
Slept in until 9AM and got me a cup of coffee. Met up with Jon at the Pub and that took up most of the day. Dinner was soup although I am trying to change that meal to something more healthy. I did eat quite a few bit size Almond Joy candy bars that we bought for Halloween Trick-Treat candy. I did write a letter to Jim Jim, I need to write the other two girls too.
10:00PM 141, 01:35 109 ,07:00 101
Thursday
No HF radio today.
Time to clear out the garage, it’s been gaining items for several years.
I pulled all the spare solar panels out of the garage and put them in the van. I also broke down the cardboard boxes of the panels on the roof. (Geez, they are heavy.)
Reloaded NetLimiter on my computer, there are nefarious things being sent to unknown addresses when using acrobat reader. NetLimiter allows me to block specific programs from reaching the Internet. I had a license that expired in June, that license was on my three Dell laptop computers. The eight permanent licenses I bought for Net limiter prior to 2014 apparently don’t include upgrades to the latest version. They’ve gone the way of most of the software on our phones, you are forced to purchase a dated license that has to be renewed every year. Their license portal didn’t recognize my two Toshiba computer licenses at all. I decided to upgrade the Dell licenses to cover all the home computers, that way I only have to remember the one license key. (The five licenses still don’t cover the HAM NUC.) All the previous license purchases are void since they no longer cover upgrades.
Bedtime after eating rice cakes with cream cheese, 139
Friday
Slept in, did not get onto the HAM radio this morning. Didn’t have breakfast either, lunch was leftover chicken breast, mashed taters and veggies. They did pick up the garbage today and the recycling too.
We got a response from the Philippines; this is what is needed. CF has a “Special Occasion” gift that can be used to send support for the new baby each month. We’ll start the gifts on or about the 10th of November. (They keep the gift and the interest until the rollup at the end of the month.) Holiday gifts are kept for more than 30 days, again keeping the accrued interest.
We had leftover chicken, veggies and mashed red potatoes for lunch.
We received 3 of the 5 Super Stacker boxes from EBay.
Saturday
Her kit arrived today. We’ll start to use the memory on the devices. Funny story is that the device only costs $2 more with the supplies. We’ve checked ourselves over 50 times already. (This device costs about 33c per test.) I could NOT find a way to delete her readings from my device, I’ll just have to wait until I get 100 readings.
My sucrose was 117 this morning even after eating candy before bed. One thing we’ve noticed is that our bodies adapt to our diet. Last week when we ate a York mint or a fun size Baby Ruth bar our sucrose would jump up around 150 and stay there for a while. After buying and eating some Halloween candy last week, we noticed our bodies are keeping up with the additional sugar intake. (Probably converting it to fat.) There are other symptoms that are bothersome. We’ve both had a yeast infection/rash in the moist folds of our skin since we started eating the candy.
The doctor recommended changing our diet to a Mediterranean diet. Actually, changing our diet has been an uphill struggle. The tallest hill on changing our diet is learning to cook difficult recipes.
We’ve been eating a medium breakfast, a heavy lunch and a light supper for months. Breakfast has been a bowl of Whole Foods bran cereal with raisins, juice, coffee and a couple hard boiled eggs. Lunch is Chicken, Pork, Fish and occasionally ground beef, beef stew meat or round steak in a casserole. Supper has been a bowl of Progresso soup or a sandwich for months. We both have a sweet tooth and a really bad habit of “Munching” between meals.
Lunch was a bit hectic, but all went well after I actually put water in the steam tray. We had chicken legs, veggies and mashed potatoes. Got outside today after lunch. I received my replacement compressor and put air into the van and the silver Focus. The spare had less than 30PSI in it, it is supposed to be 60PSI. It took a long while to get 60PSI because so much air leaks out when disconnecting the compressor. I really like the old one better, they chose to split the long hose making for leaks.
Sunday
I got up a little early this morning, we forgot to change the clocks. She brought me some coffee and I added a little hot chocolate this morning. I checked in with the Waterway Net, I happened to be first and the sole contact NCC Steve could reach.
I downloaded NetLimiter on my Longitude2 Laptop computer, I have two more to go. Zoom was a pain, apparently the 32bit version was installed and the 64 bit version was not able to uninstall it first.
My glucose was 122@10AM this morning.
Watched the service today and made a backup recording here at home. Linked the service to our website. Warmed up chicken leftovers from yesterday, they were delicious. Set all the clocks back an hour for the end of daylight Savings.
We played Scrabble while we tried to navigate three different conversations. We ended up watching Johnny Carson before heading to bed.
Woke about 7:30 and checked in with the HAM radio guys. We both were awake and working through our lists about 10AM. We took a nap before lunch. Lunch was well on its way by the time Emory called. Lunch was boneless pork chops, sweet potatoes and mixed veggies. We have an appointment with Emory social worker this week to change our diet and sedentary lifestyle. I have an appointment with the eye doctor this afternoon.
Eye doctor went good, nothing that needs to be addressed and the prescription is the same.
I bought a glucose meter. My first test was 116 mg/gL and that’s a good reading. We plan on testing ourselves especially when she has that sour taste in her mouth.
Dinner was canned chicken noodle soup, and we had a snack while watching a movie.
Tuesday
Woke up about 7:45 and checked in with the HAM guys on the WW net. They asked how Uncle Paul was doing, and I haven’t talked to him in a minute.
I checked my glucose, 120 mg/gL first thing this morning her reading was similar.
She asked me if I wanted to go down for a nap, I agreed and then she asked if she should put her braces in.
Re-Heating our dinner works very well with these insulated bowls. They didn’t work well as serving bowls since the food got all over the insulating pads.
Once we’ve heated the dinner in the Pyrex bowls, we’ll transfer it to washable stainless insulated bowls for serving.
Her daily pills are in disarray tonight, we don’t know what’s what.
Watched Garfield the movie and Hudson and Rex this evening before heading to bed. I did recheck my glucose, it was 120ml/gL which is normal range.
Wednesday
Got a letter from Child Fund Philippines this morning, I sent them a couple of E-Mails with suggestions too. Went to lunch with some friends and had a blast. We got a couple letters from Josephine that I printed for her. We both took a good nap after we got back. We measured our Sucrose today after our nap and it was 105-115 which is in the normal range. We took a walk to the west until we got to the school playground, my knee was bothering me just a little.
Talked to my uncle today, he’s got a new upgraded shower.
Church was split Men/Women and that went well. My right foot and my left knee weren’t happy for some reason at bedtime. We watched Hudson and Rex before bed.
Thursday
Got up around 7 to meet Paul on the HF radio. I called out to him on the radio, and I never heard him during the Waterway Net. I didn’t feel good and neither did she, so we took a good long nap this morning. We also decided to eat out since our castle can feel like a prison if we’re uncomfortable. Lunch at Outback was great, the bar tender remembered us and the food was top notch! It never fails that we get awful food for several visits and the next place we visit the food is nothing less than TERRIFIC.
We took a huge nap after getting home and I was feeling a little better. I worked on the pile stuff in the van most of the day. We took the stuff to Public Storage and the van is pretty much empty. (I still have not found my sunglasses.) No word from Gwinnett County for my Homestead Exemption yet.
We went to Kroger and got our meat for next week, getting meat at Wally World is hit or miss. The package has gotten damaged several times and we didn’t find out until we thawed the product. Kroger had the same frozen chicken breast today; I didn’t buy it though.
Tested 3 hours after dinner and it was 140, took a quick walk up the street and it dropped to 105. (Hers was 150 and it dropped to 107.)
We NEED to take a walk after dinner every day to burn off these calories before going to bed.
Friday
I am up at 4:30 taking my pills about 34 hours late.
My sucrose this morning was 127 after taking my pills and before eating breakfast
3 Eggs and breakfast sausage, coffee and a baby Ruth bar for breakfast. Checked in with the Waterway Net this morning while I was eating breakfast. I didn’t hear my uncle this morning on the radio.
Met up with the guys from Dobbins at the Firehouse Pub and had a good time. Lunch and the drinks were complementary. Drove home this time without issue, I wasn’t feeling the beers this time around. I only had two and we were there three hours since my parking spot almost timed out.
We ended up at Outback cuz she was hungry, I really wasn’t. I thought I’d have a couple of shrimp and a beer. I told her that I came from a bar and that I didn’t want any liquor, just one beer to sip on. Food was terrific as usual. I might need to talk to her next week and decide on a protocol going forward. It’s her call if I tell her that I’ve had some alcohol, and I would not have been offended if she said no.
When we got home, I measured mine and it was 115, hers was 194! That’s when I realized she had three Arnold Palmers (Tea/Lemonade) with loads of sugar. We took a walk and hers dropped to 120.
Got a nice card from the church.
Saturday
Work gave us a picture of the radar I used to maintain.
My sucrose this morning was 113, we are learning how our bodies are dealing with our diet. She had three Arnold Palmer’s yesterday and her number was pretty high.
Checked into the WW Net, the band was “Long” so I couldn’t hear stations close to me. Worked on the living room pile for a good while this morning, the couch is almost visible. We both took a nap and had turkey chili for dinner. I continued working on it most of the evening after our nap. It sure takes a long time to put things back where they belong. I might be done by Wednesday LOL.
Worked on the living room today, the couch is empty.
Watched Meet Joe Black and I cried at the end.
We are changing our bad habits, hers 97 and mine 99 at bedtime.
Sunday
I ordered five “Stacker” boxes on eBay.
I’m up with my radio, waited my turn to check-in and then continued to declutter the living room floor most of the day. We had Grandma’s chili for lunch.
I am getting there. It’s taken me a week to get this far.
It is very cloudy out there today. (I can’t remember the last time it rained.)
Woke up around 6 this morning when the alarm went off from Sunday service wake-up. Checked in with the HAM radio guys while sipping my coffee.
Applying for the Gwinnett Homestead exemption on our home. The taxes are outrageous at $3,400.00 all the documents have to be in one PDF. I had to print them and then rescan them to upload to the county website.
Just found out that we’re cooking chicken in the cold oven and it’s 11AM. 20 minutes to heat the oven, another 30 minutes to cook the chicken. We should be able to eat by 1:00 PM if we forfeit our nap. I set an alarm on Alexa for 10AM so that we catch this earlier. We really should discuss the next day at 7:15 when her alarm goes off. We decided to cook the beef stew meat since it expired today.
Dinner was really good, but we’re still not on the same page today.
We’re keeping the troubles of yesterday and throwing them into conversations today. Emory Brain health appointment is this week, I think she’s a little apprehensive about talking to the doctor. We’ve NOT done anything that he’s asked us to do as far as medications.
Mowed the back yard, we have a lawn service for the front.
We saw an American roach on the wall in the den today. We tore up the room cleaning out any crumbs of food and we laid down a glue trap behind the chairs. I may have to clean out the Den closet if they are nesting in there.
Tuesday
Slept maybe two hours last night. I found out that the grocery list was not made, and we have to toss food that we could have eaten. She’s really worried about the doctor’s appointment on Wednesday and that’s taken a toll on us. We had disagreements all day yesterday.
Checked in with the HAM guys this morning on the HF radio while I update this blog. She also brought me a cup of coffee to sip on.
I worked on the tub of wires for the parking lot speakers, it looks like they are all still there. I separated them into cloth bags and the rest I put back into the tub. The wires are so heavy they broke through the bottom of the tub they were in.
Our 20Yr old, sponsored youth in the Philippines had a child of her own in May. I remember seeing a letter a while ago from her apologizing for something. The letter she wrote in May was sent directly to us from CF Philippines yesterday which I found to be convenient. The tone of the conversation was they thought we’d drop her support because she got pregnant. I know for a fact the CF will drop her if she gets married, that happened to Rochelle. We wrote a letter and forwarded that letter to CF Philippines directly. They are going to work with the community to determine what’s appropriate going forward and get back with us.
We found out in the evening that the doctor’s appointment was cancelled by Emory and that we were supposed to call for a Social Worker appointment earlier today. Oops! We’ll have to wait until Wednesday.
Wednesday
Got up around 8AM and checked in with the HAM radio guys on the Waterway Net. I spent a few minutes gathering information on our financial support of the Philippine children.
I also updated our three Daytimers, by inserting and moving 3 months.
They are absolutely necessary in our current environment. One Daytimer is the current 6 months, 3 months past/3 months future. One Daytimer is the past 6 months and one Daytimer is last year. I also use this blog to keep track of when we’ve accomplished things that we may not have written down in the Daytimer.
Dinner is a frozen turkey breast. It will take 3 hours *1PM before it is done, we’ll start the vegetables and potatoes around noon. Alexa is awfully easy to setup alarms like these.
Todd is probably going to get snow today, it’s only 41 degrees this morning and only getting up to 61 later today.
Made an eye appointment for next Monday, I have a crease in my vision at 5 o’clock just outside my primary vision in my right eye.
Made a huge dent in the loose paperwork on the kitchen table. The entire left side of the kitchen table is for transitioning paperwork and staging stuff.
My back is starting to bother me, need to take a break and lay down somewhere. I took about a half hour nap in the lounge chair, and I felt a little better.
Thursday
We got up waay after 8 so I was too late to join the guys on the Waterway Net this morning. It was only 41 degrees this morning and there’s a frost warning for tomorrow. We checked our grocery list and it was too late in the morning to get groceries before lunch. We needed a break, so we headed to Outback for lunch. The bill kind of surprised us, it was only 55 dollars. We ate at the bar with Armani and had a good time.
We drove to Wally World for groceries, it wasn’t a very heavy bill. The Progresso Soup section was terribly diminished. We also could not find our favorite Pace salsa either, they had Picante but not salsa.
When we got home, we discussed our way ahead with her brain health. We have to start documenting her symptoms, she’ll never remember all the details when she sees the doctor next. Which by the way, the doctor doesn’t come in until Monday and we have an appointment with a Social Worker which is getting in the way of seeing an actual doctor.
The picture of my arm last year was clear.
The larger spot is a little bigger than a pencil eraser. It’s still a little scary!
The doctor said that it is a common occurrence in elderly people. It’s simply a bruise just under the skin. We have an appointment in three weeks, it should be gone by then.
I still have shingles! I just don’t understand how I can have this for months even when I’ve had three rounds of medication.
Friday (Fall is upon us)
It got kinda cool outside this morning.
The space heaters kept the bedroom toasty last night.
I’ll make a call to the dermatologist after their office opens this morning. I sent an E-Mail to their office last night with a picture of my arm so see if they want to move up my appointment. She got up a little while earlier and had a bowl of cereal. Her fingers were really bothering her this morning and she appeared to have difficulty writing in her story book. (AKA Diary)
The doctor gave us the green light and we headed home. We had leftover turkey for dinner and took a nap. We also took a short walk about 3PM. It’s a beautiful day here today, cool and bright sun. I wanted to catch the mail lady, but she managed to pass me between the houses LOL.
I had soup for dinner and she had a ham sandwich on rye. We watched Teagarden mysteries until 7:15 and then we worked on inventorying the meat in the refrigerator.
Wally World ground beef gets terribly bloody when it reaches the use by date. We also have lost three frozen turkey breasts and two pork tenderloins for broken packaging. (They leaked when thawed.)
The package always leaks, and it got all over the small refrigerator yesterday. We use this refrigerator to offload the long term storage of fresh items from the larger refrigerator. (Dairy and Meat mostly.) We used to use it as a freezer, but our needs have changed since COVID.)
The colors correspond to the storage type, blue is fresh, and green is frozen.
Saturday (Landon’s birthday)
There’s something going on with my eyes. I have had a spot in my left eye for more than a year from the sign in Ohio. It’s just off center at 11 o’clock. There’s also a stripe in my right eye about 5 o-clock that is annoying. I see an eye doctor on Monday, she’ll take a good look at my pupil and my retina. I know I have cataracts. They are causing a shadow to appear below my vision. I am still able to see pretty good at night, if that changes, I’ll get the surgery. She cannot see at night, and I have to drive. Today for some reason I am seeing lightning at the 12 O’clock or 5 O’clock far corners under low light. It doesn’t happen in darkness.
It’s still quite cool today, great weather to work in the attic.
I took a nap for about 30 minutes after eating lunch. I am nauseous and my back is rather sore. I am emotionally worn out from the difficult discussions yesterday and today. We made excellent progress in expressing our feelings of the progression of her symptoms. We’re also taking notes on what the symptoms are and where we are.
To that end we’re capturing benchmarks twice a day to ground ourselves in where we are.

Describe the following during the last 5 hours.

Preparations made today/tomorrow
Pick 5 feelings out of the emotional wheel twice a day.
Speaking of symptoms, her finger sensations have gotten much worse. I put her fingers in a bowl of water, and you can almost see the ripples on the water between her fingers.
I FOUND my hat today, now that we can go for walks. It’s very dirty though!
We had our Soup & Sandwich and watched I Love Trouble together.
Sunday
I ate too many calories yesterday evening, it is so easy to get carried away with munching while watching TV. I have two medicines for my skin, one is antiviral, and the other is anti-bacterial/yeast. The yeast medication seems to be more effective this morning. We’re staying home from church today since the red patch on my back is still there. It bothers me the most when I am emotional.
She woke up early this morning about 6:30 and had a bowl of cereal after removing her braces. She went back to sleep without putting them back on. When she woke at 8:30 she had a terrible headache and her right lower molar hurt really bad. After putting her braces back in the pain quickly subsided. I’ll have to remember that she’s getting to the point where the back teeth are moving pretty rapidly. I also have to remember that she is forgetful and can’t correlate even the symptoms she can remember to a cause.
We’ve added another large Daytimer for a total of three. One Daytimer is a calendar of events for both of us. One Daytimer is documentation of her symptoms and the third is our walk with the Lord.
We found the wife’s Kindle; it was accidentally put in storage as Patricia’s. Patrica’s is a 7″ version of the Kindle Fire and is still supported, I don’t see a need to keep the device since I can use an Android tablet to read Kindle books. Grandma’s chili for lunch with crackers. We Zoomed in for church today since my Shingles spot is still quite prominent on my back. I do not know why I still have shingles almost two months later. Having diabetes increases the risk of shingles and severity. My A1C at the doctor has put me at “At Risk or Pre” but not diagnosed with type II diabetes. I know it is getting worse because of other symptoms with my feet and skin infections are becoming more frequent. My eyes are also having issues other than the cataracts if I’ve eaten at night. This morning, I have medium pain on my torso and slightly more around the shingles rash. It made it difficult to sleep last night for sure. I’ve ordered a glucose meter and test strips. I don’t know why doctors of pre-diabetes patients don’t just prescribe the device to help patients be informed as their disease progresses.
Found out that she stopped taking LAMICTAL (lamotrigine) cold turkey a while ago. She didn’t tell me or write down when she stopped taking that medication. The side effects of stopping that medication are many including tingling fingers and toes. It’s not recommended to stop without talking to a doctor and then tapering off the medication slowly is highly recommended. It also accounts for the aggressively nature of our discussions over the last couple of weeks. (Bi-Polar came back.)
Woke up about 7:30 and checked in with the HAM guys while looking at the current Milton hurricane warnings. She made coffee and it doesn’t look good for Florida. We had baked chicken legs and veggies for lunch, it was excellent.
Milton is now Category 5 hurricane in 24 Hrs.
They are evacuating the people in Mobile homes and near the coast.
Our taxes need an estimate of the value of the Pahrump home when we acquired it. I don’t have that since my brother had the estate for the first five months. We did get an CMA estimate in July, but if I remember correctly, I could not download it. I checked my NAS, no documents from Oct 2022 that I can find.
I’ve sent what I could to mom, the last of it arrives tomorrow. If they get into big trouble, they have 1000W of solar panels and a Solar Generator that will help. It likely will not totally power a refrigerator 75Wx24=1800WH/Day. If they get 5 hours of sun, like I do here in Atlanta they’ll have 2KWH/Day which is just enough for the fridge. Clouds often greatly reduce the total power generated. If they manage to connect the solar trailer they might have enough and that’s a maybe…
Checked in with the GARS 2M Net on their repeater. Soup for dinner and then we watched some Faith & Family until bedtime.
Tuesday
Looks like mom is not listed, but I expect it’ll be around midnight.
Talked to Paul this morning and called mom but she was sleeping.
New bed rails arrived from Wally World today, box was pretty beaten up.
Old bedrails got bent trying to move the bed with the mattress on it.
The original 30Yr Old frame with a single 3″ foot wasn’t enough to hold us since we’ve gotten to be 400Lbs. I bought a new frame with TWO feet and then realized all the weight is at one end. I decided to distribute the weight with a 2x4x12 after I reassembled the bed. I had to use a floor jack to raise the mattress and add the 2×4 under the foot, it seems to be enough support. The black thing is a Bed Bug trap to prevent them from traveling. Apparently, I forgot the wrench and my wife’s shoes.
Wednesday (Hurricane Milton)
Got up at 8AM and checked-in on the HAM radio with the Waterway Net, which was unusually busy I might add.
Mom is in a good spot, she’s north of the path and in the middle of the state.
I ordered a cart to carry the UPS and the batteries to the Sunday Service this weekend. I still have to assemble all the wires. I had two boiled eggs for breakfast and have spent a good part of the day trying to figure out the power for Sunday.
The Hurricane should arrive in Tampa at 9PM tonight and 20MPH winds for mom.
Chicken legs for dinner, although I had to toss one of them cuz it was a little too red inside. I could have cooked it, but having warm uncooked meat might be a little scary.
Mom still should have power, that’s the 5 in the middle. In theory its one block south of her.
Thursday
Checked on Mom, she has power and is in good shape.
There are 36,000 people near her that do not have power.
We went to Wally World to get our paper stuff. We also went to the park to test the power in the Pavillion for the Sunday service. We had a light dinner at Longhorn and then returned home to do our taxes. All done at 7PM so we watched a little well deserved TV.
Friday
Did not get onto the HF radio today, we had a Dentist appointment at 9AM which went well. I had lunch with Jon at JOHNNIE MACCRACKEN’S CELTIC FIREHOUSE PUB. I drank a little too much and had to walk it off before driving home. I was terribly sleepy by the time I got home and really needed to take a nap. The lawn service came by and I had not put out his payment, they caught me off guard. (I didn’t think the grass was long enough to mow.) I woke up having missed a couple calls and she made me a bowl of soup while we watched some TV. We got into those unproductive conversations last night about her believing she has a cavity. The reality is that the edges of her braces cut into her gums or her cheeks making her uncomfortable. I went to bed thinking that it was resolved, but it wasn’t.
Saturday
Woke up early and took my medicine, I’ve not taken it on time for the last couple of days. Emotional drama prevails. I did check in with the guys on my HF radio while checking on the news and sipping on a cup of coffee.
Went to Longhorn for Lunch after we had a rather long discussion about the unresolved issues from last night. We still have to cook the pork chops since they needed to be eaten/frozen by yesterday.
Spent a good part of the day on the phone working out how to put 1000W of audio inside a 64 Foot circle at church tomorrow. It turned out that the volumes were kept low because of the speaker placement and electronic drum set.
Sunday
Headed out to the park after loading up the batteries and solar generator. I was completely out of fuel so a gas run was necessary. The odometer was also warning me with a text message, LOW FUEL! Got to the park at the correct time and met up with Larry. Lisa and Tommy were both quite late. Tommy had all the mic stands and Lisa had all the wires. My back did not like hauling the equipment back-n forth today.
Church service went quite well, and the T-Mobile hot spot carried the service.
We went to Outback for lunch and the food was fantastic. I was exhausted by the time I got home, and the van is full of equipment that has to go to storage. My back hurt too much to put the equipment back in storage.
Got up around 7 and clicked on the coffee while I chatted with the folks on 2M. I switched over to 40M and checked into the Waterway Net. I didn’t hear my uncle Paul on the net.
I powered up the orange Fender amplifier and I changed the colors of the 2nd Red amplifier to green. I had to use the parking lot service speaker wires since all the Fender speaker wires were not in the amplifier’s compartment. Lisa said that she has them at her home. Both amplifiers are working, and their fans appear to be normal. If I remember right the speaker that dies has no identification tape on it. Trouble is that two of the amplifiers didn’t make it back to storage, so I didn’t have access to them.
We had grandma’s chili for lunch and we built a grocery list for tomorrow.
Checked in with the guys on my HF radio and we went to Wally World to get groceries already. Took a good long nap and had Ham & Pea for dinner.
Tuesday
Paul’s home is without power for at least several more days. He does have a camper with propane powered refrigerator. He’s in Portland Washington until tomorrow. His friend that’s watching over the house won’t have power for a very long time. Power and Gasoline are a difficult thing after a storm, they are both in short supply. Conservation and solar are good choices.
Checked the eight batteries on the refrigerator backup by running the refrigerator for an hour on battery, two were bad. Replacements were on hand and were installed restoring the full run time of about 8 hours.
Paid the AZ land taxes, I need to work this once I have my house in order.
Wednesday
I had an awful night, apparently the salad dressing was a little old or got left out a little too long. I’ve been burping that awful taste all night long. I did manage to get onto the Waterway Net this morning, the propagation is mixed, but I heard madam secretary just fine.
Gwinnett county taxes finally paid. I need to submit the form for that. 3400 is TOOO Much! Charging my EcoFlow power station for Paul, it was down to 60%. Pulled the bed apart and bent the frame so that it would hold the mattress until we got the frame from Wally World.
We didn’t end up going to church tonight, we Zoomed it. My shingles is still at my side, it doesn’t hurt very much this time around.
Thursday
Up about 7AM this morning and listened to the guys on the HAM radio. I checked in with them on the Waterway Net before starting to work on my failing cameras. Two of the cameras on my DVR have just stopped working and they act like they’ve been reset to factory. The interesting thing is the back yard camera that’s always given me trouble is working perfectly!
It’s been solid for days, and that’s unusual.
I’ve not been able to revive the Reolink camera, so I replaced it.
The Amcrest 8M Pixel camera has a good view, but no sound.
Only one Reolink camera with audio on the front side of the home.
After about six hours I finally got all of the cameras working. There are two Reolink DVR cameras that are losing their passwords. I’m wondering if the lithium batteries in them are depleted and need to be replaced. I’ll leave the porch camera unplugged overnight and see if it forgets the programming. Then I can disassemble the camera and find out what kind of battery is used.
The other oddity is the back yard camera is fickle only when all four cameras are working. If there’s just one camera, the back yard camera doesn’t seem to struggle at all. (And the A/C camera is the only other camera on the DVR competing with the back yard camera bandwidth.
Dinner was leftover round steak from the Wednesday crock pot dinner was delicious today. We’ll have to cook one more round steak tomorrow. The trick is to talk about what dinner is tomorrow tonight so that all the details are discussed beforehand. I often walk into the kitchen and realize that she put the leftovers on the stove before she put the frozen veggies on steamer. Even then she didn’t peel the potatoes before pouring the veggies into the steamer. Potatoes, then veggies, then leftovers which only takes about 5 minutes to warm up.
After a long bit of turmoil, I’ve decided that any requirement I make will be on myself to fulfill. Asking her to do anything a certain way is resulting in severe emotional consequences. Her bipolar has come back and rears its ugly head when even a small discourse arises after she’s had a wonderful day. So, I am left with the version of a marriage where hubby and wife are just “Nice” to each other. We stay in our own corner and if any preventable crisis happens, then we just pick up the pieces without discussing prevention measures for next time. (She’ll either forget them or resent them.)
Friday
Day 1 of being nice.
I have not figured out what that bright spot is above the windshield.
Our shooting friend is back, he noticed the additional lights and sped off.
I got onto my HAM radio this morning and checked in with the guys. I’ve not heard from Paul since yesterday, he’s in good shape cept for a leaking shower drain on the 2nd floor.
I had two eggs and breakfast sausages for breakfast. I didn’t get much accomplished this morning other than looking at the Toyota Camry that drove by last night. Lunch was a miss since the round steak would be done about 15:30. We went to Longhorn’s for lunch just because I was hungry for more than a bowl of soup.
We had a good nap after getting back and I did do some organizing while waiting for Lisa to call me. (Which she didn’t do, what a waste of time.) Supper was ham and a couple eggs.
Saturday
Up at 8AM and listening to my HAM radio this morning. She brought my coffee to my cave, but I think I’ll move to the kitchen table this morning. Dinner plans were not laid out in the Daytimer, so we worked on the timeline. The round steak was cooked yesterday and so were the mashed red potatoes. All we had to was warm up a pot of frozen veggies and the two leftovers in the fridge.
Now that dinner was planned, I grabbed a shower. I looked for the washcloth on the soap tray but could not find one. I found a washcloth across the tub so I used that one. After I was done, she told me that she had brought a clean one and that the one on the tub was dirty. I mentioned that we’ve discussed this in the past that if she takes a washcloth out of the bathroom it should be replaced? It’s not a huge deal to step out of the shower and get one from under the sink, but the floor gets wet and I’m uncomfortable in the cold air. We got into one of those uncomfortable discussions where she is trying to please me when I said that I’ll just get one out of the cabinet every day. Simple solution, I add it to my procedure page in my personal Daytimer and it’s done. She was offended that I would take such a stance and away we went.
We recovered from this morning and the rest of the day was calm. We had canned soup for dinner with whole foods crackers. I bought a care package for my mother in Florida, there’s a hurricane headed directly over her.
Mom’s home in Citra is marked with a red circle. I could not find out how to secure a lithium solar generator if you are evacuated. They have five dogs and Ricky is Nancy’s caretaker. It will be an interesting conversation if they are asked to evacuate with Ricky owning FIVE dogs.
Sunday
Tropical Storm Milton will arrive as an H3 late Wednesday
I’ve sent several care packages to my mom in Florida ahead of the next hurricane headed for Florida. I am hesitant to send too much because she’s on Medicaid.
Checked in with the HF guys on my HAM radio this morning. There’s a little bit of static with the lightning in the gulf. I had two cups of coffee, and I’ll probably jump back into bed until we get close to church services this morning.
Church services went well cept for the lead microphone died. Ricky is not preparing for another power outage. She is waiting until I come down there to rewire the solar trailer. I cannot go to Florida 2 days before a hurricane arrives. She apparently knows that they’ll be fine, and she gets to sit and watch TV. (Even though she’s getting paid to take care of her.) I am waiting until Marion County says to move into hurricane shelters with her five dogs.
Lunch was leftover round steak and fixens.
Worked on my taxes most of the evening, we owe another 3K in capital gains taxes from the sale of my parents’ home. We have the money since we’ve stashed money for the Estate Taxes.
We’ve both woken up several times during the night. I forgot to take my evening pills last night, took them about eight hours later. Checked in with the guys on the HF radio and had three eggs and sausage for breakfast. I’ve been kind of laying low to hear from Lisa, but crickets would be louder. I’d really like a status of our Estate taxes from Nevada, but nothing from them either.
I got sunburnt Saturday with three hours in the bright sun, and I am really feeling it today. We got into an argument about groceries, she was writing the inventory on the grocery list. The trouble with that is you don’t know how many to buy. (And that’s the whole purpose of a grocery list.) We also found out that she had not done her daily inventory, and a package of ham had to be tossed. It was more than a week past the eat/freeze date. She is supposed to put post-it notes on the cupboard to make it easy to pick out the oldest meat in the fridge.
We ended up having salmon, it had to be eaten today. We had left over veggies and sweet potatoes with the salmon. It ended up being a good lunch.
I put a weatherproof solar charger on both the van and the blue Ford Focus (that we’re not driving). I split the output of the charger to both of the cigarette lighter plugs with small three-amp fuses to protect the cars. (The wires actually connect the two car batteries together) The four solar panels are on the fence in the back yard. It would have been easier to use a panel on the van, but the fence panels were already mounted for another project. Yellow/black is solar… Pink/Blue is batteries.
Dinner was organic chicken noodle soup from Whole Foods. They have an interesting package that unfolds to open. 🙂
Watched a little TV before turning in.
Tuesday (Groceries)
Showered, got onto the HF radio with the guys then got dressed. Wally World wasn’t bad, no round steak and the 1/2 Gallon Borden milks were expired. (Again, that’s two weeks in a row.) I made this mistake of licking my fingers to open the plastic bag After I handled the chicken. (BAD Idea) I put a timer on the front yard light so that I could power the IR illuminators without having the yard light create shadows. It worked pretty well according to the cameras. The timer is off by a couple minutes, but that’s no consequence.
Her heart rate was a little high on her FitBit so she put the O2 sensor on. (There’s no reason her heart rate was almost 100 while sitting in a chair watching TV.)
Her heart rate dropped some, but a resting heart rate should be around 60.
My heart rate is much lower than hers.
I took some Tylenol and my evening meds and we turned in for the evening.
Wednesday (Midweek Church service)
Woke at 7:30 I have moderate pain and slight itchy across my back and arms this morning. My ears are ringing which usually means I was low O2 at some point.
Hasn’t changed much, should be here in force on Friday.
I checked in with the guys on my HF radio while I downloaded the data from our O2 sensors. She’s changing the bedding and I’m getting my day organized. Her heart rate while cleaning our home is 81 this morning. The car batteries were 12.6V this morning, they were 13.8 when the sun came up and charging them. I put a plastic bag over the timer that turns off the hanging light on the corner of our home. I used to turn off the power, but I use that power for the IR illuminators until I can run another cable. She did not do an inventory of our refrigerators yesterday. It takes a LOT of time walking behind her and checking things?
Burritos was lunch today, we added Taco seasoning, cheese and Salsa to the tortilla. No veggies or starch for dinner today.

Thursday
Slept in until almost 9AM and I again have moderate pain and slight itchy across my back and arms this morning. My ears are ringing which usually means I was low O2 at some point. I didn’t get onto the HAM radio because I got up so late. All my stored passwords have been erased by Norton Password manager. (I didn’t know getting rid of their storage deleted all the storage.) Uggg
I am trying to get some momentum, but not having much luck. My HF antenna in the back yard had fallen over, with all this rain the stake came up out of the ground. I originally had two stakes, but I never needed the second one until today. The stake that came out tried to poke my eye out as I pulled the rope back down, luckily, I had my eye lid closed when I saw it swung around. The ropes were all loose since some of they are Nylon. (I need to change them out for poly for the winter.)
Burritos for lunch, actually it tasted better on chips than rolled up in a tortilla. Nap time. Checked on the hurricane, it’s going to be 7 hours later to Georgia which pushes weather ever closer to Women’s Retreat.
The tropical force wind probability has been moving north all day.
Updated my two of the three Raspi’s so that I can use them again.
Mom called, they won’t get power back until Sunday Night and the solar power generator battery is down to 20%. They tried to run the TV and the Dish Network Hopper, but that really ran the battery down.
Friday
No damage, just a tremendous amount of rain.
Up at 8:30, so too late to meet up with our HAM guys. She poured me a cup of coffee and I took the garbage can out to the curb. I need to take the recycling out too, but that truck comes later in the day and it is still raining.
Two of the four camera on my DVR stopped working this week.
Camera 2 is now sitting on a car tire facing west to take over the area.
I had to change the configuration of my bed and remove the wedge.
I have an issue with Gurd if I lay flat, so I’ve been using a wedge to keep my upper body elevated. The problem with that is my head falls over and I choke myself several times during the night. (And it can be a couple minutes until my body circulation pools my blood away from my skin.) I am hoping that with the pillow LOWER than my body that my head won’t wonder down to my chest at night! (Her pillow has been in this configuration for months for the same reason. We put an exercise mat under the mattress pad to elevate us slightly long ago.
I sent a message to Nevada asking about our estate taxes. I paid our County Taxes today, $3400.00 YUK She didn’t follow the directions on the frozen fish and put the fillets themselves in cold water (Instead of the sealed pouch). It took three attempts at reading the instructions before she would agree that she did it wrong. I don’t know if my place is to stand alongside her on these simple instructions. I am sure they are trying to prevent bacteria from getting into the fish while it is thawing.
Saturday
Lowering my pillow seems to have helped my breathing at night.
I didn’t sleep very well last night because how involved I’ve gotten with the Women’s Retreat today. I got up early and gathered a tub of cables for the projector. (We hadn’t discussed this, but it was on the program given to the attendees.)
Washing our tubs for the two CPAPs, Vinegar and warm soapy water.
I’ve been trying to get their return check from 2019 for 5 years.
Women’s Retreat happened today. I only got one phone call, and the morning session is about over. The assumption is that it went well, and they didn’t need any help.
Lunch was chicken thighs, veggies and sweet potatoes. I didn’t eat the potatoes because my skin has too much sugar on it from yesterday’s meal at Longhorn.
We went to CVS that was closed yesterday for the Tropical Storm and now they are closed because a tree fell on the building. We’re trying to pick up a narcotic and that cannot be transferred to another CVS.
Filled out a survey on Longhorn at Web Gin Road for JJ, she did a great job yesterday.
Sunday
I am up, took my morning meds and waiting my turn on the HF radio. The payment to the County hasn’t processed yet, which may be because it’s the weekend.
Went to home church and that went very well. We had left over chicken thighs for lunch and I took a HUGE nap for hours. I went and retrieved the sound board and two Fenders from storage. The sound board was damaged, apparently it fell off the cart and no one said anything. The wires for the speakers also were not in the amplifiers so I had to put off any testing.
She did not sleep well last night, and I didn’t do much better. I’m sipping my coffee and trying to get organized. I guess the best thing to do is make a bullet list.
We just are not communicating in a respectful way. We keep tripping over details that she cannot remember and have not been written down. (There’s a thawed turkey breast in the refrigerator that we do not know how long it’s been there.) We had to make some doctor appointments this morning. The difficulty was that I would be talking about the CPAP doctors, and she would respond as though I was talking about the company the provides our supplies.
Lunch was good, we had leftover tenderloin, sweet potatoes and veggies from yesterday. We both took a good long nap and we’re getting along again.
Tuesday
Slept ok, I am up in time to hear the guys on the HF radio. The band is uncooperative today and I cannot hear most of them, so I turned it off. Grocery shopping is the task of the day. We both got dressed and headed out to Wally World to go shopping.
On our way to Wally World.
We’re back, $220 poorer. They didn’t have Egland’s Best eggs and the Borden milk on the shelf had expired two days ago. The “Great Value” milk might be an adulterated product because it freezes in the refrigerator well above Borden milk. We stopped buying it and purchase Borden instead. The cool thing is that the ice can be removed and then the milk tastes better. We can store three cartons of 18 eggs and one carton of 12 eggs in our refrigerator. (We usually store 6 cartons of 12 eggs, but Wally World did not have cartons of 12 eggs for the last two weeks.)
I got my 2nd shipment of pill timers; I still received 1 of the 8 that’s intermittent. The first shipment was a disaster, I broke one of the LCD displays and made a huge mess. I need four and it looks like I’ll have 7 working timers.
The 2nd $800 sound board arrived today along with four mic holders & some cables.
I cut the child safety rings off the timers, there was a bit of lubricant under the ring.
Watched a bible project video on 2Cor and read a little in Acts before joining her in watching Hudson & Rex on Faith & Family until we retired.
Wednesday
Well, I am up at 01:00 waiting on the next shooting while I work on the church Power Point. Went back to bed until about 5:30 and then started watching Bible project videos while sipping on my coffee. I checked in with the HAM radio guys and continue to pursue getting this power point done. I am down to 6 hours.
We’ve had a difficult day mostly because she hears different things in what I am saying. We had a same thing happen a couple days ago. I was talking about the doctor, and she was hearing me talk about the contractor providing our supplies. Today she didn’t plan out today, and she has a Telehealth appointment at 1:30. We normally go down for a nap after lunch and I didn’t see any preparations for dinner. Two hours later we’re having leftovers that are insufficient for a “Dinner” meal. It’s useless to say anything about the size of the meal, I spent two hours trying to add a starch to the flounder this morning.
The telehealth session was scheduled for 10AM this morning, so she missed her appointment with Neil Jariwala at Virtual Consult for the 2nd time.
Thursday MRI Day
We got up at 5AM and had some breakfast before heading down to Emory at 6AM. We arrived about 06:20 and waited for the imaging department to open. Check-In and the Imaging went very well, and we were out of the hospital an hour later.
When we got home, we both laid down for a good nap and woke a little after 11. The frozen turkey had a significant hole in the bag when we thawed it out. There was also a significant amount of material stuck to the package around the hole. We decided to toss it and it’s the second one we’ve tossed for this reason. Wally World may not sell a lot of them and the customers are tossing it back into the freezer. Damaging the rather thick bag they are in.
We ended up eating pork chops for lunch. There was some drama again with steaming vegetables, she only put 5 oz of water in the bottom of the pan. (She burnt the pan last time she steamed vegetables because it went dry.) I googled it, there’s a YouTube video showing exactly what to do.
I worked on my power point for most of the afternoon, I wanted to finish it by the time Jeff got home at 5. We watched Johnny Carson and then went to bed. I’ve not kicked this round of shingles, it’s still here and I only have a days worth of pills left.
Friday
It’s midnight and I am awake drying out my undercarriage.
I cut up some of the carpet in her sewing room and tossed it in the trash because it was pretty dirty and might have a bit of mold on it. The cement floor and the backing of the carpet were both clean. Most of the carpet against the walls is a little dirty. The A/C guy said it was caused by “Stacking” where the air rises up the inside of the wall. Personally, I think we’re just not reaching it with the vacuum. We’re running a MERV11 filter in the air handler, that will capture mold spores.
We had a great lunch with the Berrys at Longhorn then we came home and took a good long nap.
Setup one site of equipment to test the theory of all the connections, I did find a bad cable.
Saturday
Woke up early and loaded the van with all the stuff for the Women’s Retreat. I had three eggs, and some breakfast sausages then drove to the school. There were tons of cars in the parking lot, so we ended up in the lower/lower one. There’s no power down there so we ran off of my solar generator. I was exhausted by the time I got back home and there’s still a bunch in the air. I used sunscreen but still managed to get a sunburn on my neck.
Sunday (Church)
We are up and I am listening to my HAM radio while checking the news. Trying to make a list of things Lisa needs to take from the school for the Women’s Day Retreat.
Need to work on the living room, it’s a disaster.
Removed Norton Password manager, it was more trouble than it was worth. Wells Fargo website didn’t load correctly on both workstations tonight.
