An oddity that I’ve not solved is that the air conditioning ran for seven hours today with no signs of icing! I disabled the forced switch to the thermostat at 13:30 that is normally used during the heat of the day to gain access to high cool. Even without high cool we were comfortable using low cool during the heat of the day! We had planned on replacing the air conditioner in October because the evaporator was oil logged. Reversing the compressor to de-ice the evaporator may have pushed the oil out of the capillary tubes back towards the compressor in the much smaller high pressure tubes.

Another think I noticed was that the Dehumidifier didn’t run either. Meaning that the air conditioner was sufficiently removing the moisture.

Feelings: As Christians we are compelled to look after the Widows and the poor. Just how we do that in this climate when there is so much energy fighting the democracy I don’t know. We’ve resorted to giving money to the Atlanta Community Food Bank https://acfb.org/ until I can come up with something better.

NodeMCU Status: Our air conditioner is limping with a oil logged evaporator until we replace the unit in October. The thermostat is also limping along because of leaking batteries. I’m using these NodeMCU’s to measure the temperature and humidity throughout the house and turn on / off the power to the thermostat. I’ve been tweaking the software over the last week to improve our comfort. I added a restart control this morning so that I could restart them if they go astray.

At 9PM each day the processors shift their sensors to the bedroom and ignore the rest of the house for the most part. That way we have maximum comfort in the room we are occupying. I ended up removing the vent cover from the bedroom to improve the airflow and the dynamic changes when the air handler is running. Leaving the bedroom door open offsets the additional cold air present during the heat of the day. Also we are running the fan as though we had a 3T compressor to keep it from icing up. The airflow is quite a bit more than normal when on high cool. (Which reduces the dehumidification and increases the air temperature about 4 degrees.) That’s why we are running a dehumidifier even during a hot day.

They are very skilled at mixing “Peaceful Protests” and violence into “Mostly Peaceful Protests”. They are also very good at squashing the media into publishing just their narrative by having people on the ground telling the journalists what they can video and publish under the threat of violence. No one is talking about people are innocent until they are proven guilty by their peers in a court of law, rather they may have judged and promoted immediate convictions based on video they’ve edited/published. They are remarkable in their taunting, then they file complaints against the police and government about 1st Amendment rights being quelled by police brutality, which is the whole reason they are protesting. (Maybe, they still could want a Marxist government that redistributes the money to bring the poor out of poverty and give control of the country to the working class. (DPRUSA?) They have to get the police out of the way before pushing the laws of this country aside with these protests.) The-revolutionary-philosophy-of-marxism No one is talking seriously about the 25 Trillion dollars of Debt we’ve (Politicians) run up as we keep finding ways to give away money. We also seem to be forgetting that a couple of these people (at the root of all this protesting) are convicted felons who’s aggression toward the police contributed to the painful loss of their lives in front of a video camera. I did read an article that links a pandemic to protests, apparently the oppressed are motivated during a pandemic to strike out at their government’s misgivings. Lastly I found a good read that doesn’t sound like a stump speech about racism. https://medium.com…stop-calling-it-white-privilege the writer Michelle Elizabeth covers most of the bases about were we are as a racially divided country. What I liked about her writing was that she pointed out the thing I had missed in all the newspapers. There may well be racism in our justice system that still has not been tended to. However, IMHO Marxism is not where I want to go to replace it.

Cancelled my subscriptions to major Newspapers, they all have the same hype. I have also abandoned Facebook, Twitter too. I did subscribe to medium.com where authors seem to give their in-depth views on things, which is more palatable to me in this climate.

NodeMCU ESP8266 Wi-Fi SoC

I’ve added a new feature to my distributed NodeMCU thermostat to deice the evaporator using the heat pump. The reversing valve is normally in the heat position. I have to energize a relay (And the valve) to cool the house. The system will let me run the compressor in heat mode without the fan. (Although I am scared to use it that way.) I have changed the software so that when the house is able to be cooled using the NodeMCU in low cool I run the evaporator through one defrost cycle. For now that cycle is low fan for 3 minutes, Heat pump+Fan until the evaporator temp reaches 80 degrees (About 3 minutes), Fan only for three minutes. The metal ducts keep the air temperature around 70 degrees for that short heating cycle.

Security Cameras: Still learning the Reolink DVR software and camera software for that matter. I could not find where the DVR had the passwords for the cameras for several days. I finally found a post that mentioned the password fields inside the DVR menu. (Never Saw it) Finally I saw a graphic that showed the scroll bar at the bottom of the camera listing on the DVR, viola there’s the password fields! The DVR is set to record all cameras as a default. It has notification settings to send an E-Mail if a camera goes offline or has other notifications like motion enabled. I have NOT been able to see the DVR video from my computer browsers IE, Chrome or Edge. To see the DVR video I have to use an android app. (I checked MS Store no dice.)

NodeMCU ESP8266 Wi-Fi SoC

I need to make a box that can turn on/off the dehumidifier. First the dehumidifier is horrible at reading the humidity when it is not running. (The water in the unit floods the sensor and cycles the unit unnecessarily.) Second is that the unit is too large for our home. (Draws 8 Amps and pulls 7-9 gallons per day, I suspect it is over drying the air.) The idea is to control the dehumidifier according to the six sensors across my home.

The simplest idea is to control the unit from an existing NodeMCU, the most complicated would be to build a relay box from scratch. What I cannot predict is the affect of the arcing when the contacts open. (Will it affect the NodeMCU?) I have a current sensor on the wires, hopefully we can open the relays only when the compressor is not running. I’ll have to dedicate a NodeMCU to this task to accomplish the switching when the compressor is off.

Still making improvements, the humidity sensor at the Air Handler “Feels” the humidity from the evaporator. The two sensors in the bedrooms are beyond the blower. (Meaning they don’t change unless the blower is running, Maybe a shower) I moved the sensor from the sewing room into the Dining Room. It was dryer and warmer than most of the house.

Security Cameras: I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to figure out why the cable to the gable over the garage would not connect to an Ethernet device. I used and O Scope and saw about a 4v AC signal on the wires. When I shut down the house electricity the noise was still there. (Meaning it was coming from my emergency wiring.) Later I found out that the POE switch was the culprit and needed to be grounded. I finally mounted a working camera over the garage after about three days of trying.

DC Power generating and Inverter

Homestead DC Power: The bottom section of the above picture is two 15A 24V power supplies that work alongside the solar panels and provide power for the 300W inverters on the right side. The idea is that during the day a relay connects my computers to the 300W inverter and run them on the solar power. The system doesn’t make as much power on a partly cloudy day, much less in fact. Most days I make about 13 cents worth of electricity.

Security Cameras: I bought a new security camera system more than a year ago but have not had the time to actually install them. The current cameras cost about $200 each and have a fourth of the resolution of the new ones. When I tried installing the camera over the driveway it didn’t like the data cable. After several attempts to check the wiring there was nothing wrong with the cable. I tried mounting the camera in the corner of the house replacing an existing camera there as well. That camera worked without any issues.

I also added an IR illuminator from the eve of the house onto the driveway which can be seen illuminating the grass. When I first mounted it I had not aligned it with the driveway. Later, I figured out how to use the reflection on the glass to align the illuminator to the middle of the driveway. (I looked for my face in the glass, then I knew that I was directly in front of the illuminator.)

Feet swollen today, not real bad but some cause for concern.
- I measured 20.5″ yesterday and measured 20.0″ today around the foot 2x.

About our current racial climate

Narrative: I’ve spent hundreds of hours reading the news about the protesting encouraged by the BLM Corporation International. They are very skilled at mixing “Peaceful Protests” and violence into “Mostly Peaceful Protests”. They are also very good at squashing the media into publishing just their narrative by having people on the ground telling the journalists what they can video and publish under the threat of violence. No one is talking about people are innocent until they are proven guilty by their peers in a court of law, rather they may have judged and promoted immediate convictions based on video they’ve edited/published. They are remarkable in their taunting, then they file complaints against the police and government about 1st Amendment rights being quelled by police brutality, which is the whole reason they are protesting. (Maybe, they still could want a Marxist government that redistributes the money to bring the poor out of poverty and give control of the country to the working class. (DPRUSA?) They have to get the police out of the way before pushing the laws of this country aside with these protests.) The-revolutionary-philosophy-of-marxism No one is talking seriously about the 25 Trillion dollars of Debt we’ve (Politicians) run up as we keep finding ways to give away money. We also seem to be forgetting that a couple of these people (at the root of all this protesting) are convicted felons who’s aggression contributed to the painful loss of their lives in front of a video camera. I did read an article that links a pandemic to protests, apparently the oppressed are motivated during a pandemic to strike out at their government’s misgivings.

Cancelled subscriptions to Newspapers.

I have also abandoned Facebook, Twitter too.
