The Homestead Flood. We had a tornado warning at 9PM yesterday so I had prepared by moving the car up the driveway and checking all the automated systems in the house. Once that had passed we turned in for the evening. I woke up and it was POURING outside, by the time i changed clothes the ran let up but the front lawn was now a pond.

The garage in the back usually floods when it rains this hard so I left the front yard to check the back side of the garage. The water was slowly running underneath the door onto the floor where I had tubs and tubs of stuff. It took me the next half hour to clear out where the water was. I also had to lift live power strips out of the water, that was just a little scary. Headed back out to the front yard and wanted some pictures of the flood so I had to wade out to the street though the flowing water.

An hour after this picture was taken the water was gone! I moved the dehumidifier into the garage to dry it out this evening.

A new challenge, two thermostats and the one NodeMCU. Looks like this is easier than I thought. The thermostats *8 wires are “Open” except for the Red wire (Power),the Blue wire (Common) and there’s something about the Orange wire (Reversing Valve) it appears to be normally closed to the Red wire. That means is that I can parallel all the wires between the two thermostats except for (Red) and (Orange). Two relays for red, two relays for Orange, Four relays for Cool, High, Fan and Fresh Air.

Exercising our emergency generators is a must if you are going to call on them in an emergency. When I run them (about once a month) I use these 200W personal heaters that can be bought just about anywhere to put a load on them. A generator runs best with about a 50% load on them, okay there is a liberal amount of load for exercising them. When I exercise them they run start faster and run smoother than when I don’t. Also putting a load on them gets rid of the fuel standing around in the garage. These guys are supposedly rated for 860VA, which if you figure an 80% power factor is almost 700W. I have five of these LIFAN ESI860i generators and NONE of them can support a 500W resistive load at 1000Ft elevation. (Atlanta) It seems every description in the manual is an exaggeration to get us to buy them. Run time, power output and maintenance intervals are all garbage.
