“When I say I struggled to find employment, what I mean is that the moment I apply for a job, some HR manager or artificial intelligence program Googles me. Within a second, they know I am black, and within a minute I’m automatically disqualified from the pool and a rejection letter goes out.” Thanks For Your Advice, But I Need To Be White To Follow It | by Rebecca Stevens A.

I saw an article where Kamala Harris talked about Systemic Racism where the two races have a different starting point but can have equal treatment. I am a white person living in Atlanta where most of the people I intersect with are either Black or Hispanic. I don’t believe for a second that someone in Atlanta applying for a job will be turned down because they are BIPOC. We don’t have to be like California and bring back truly racist programs like Desegregation and Affirmative Action.

The proponents of the bill, the most radical progressives in California (which is really saying something), say it’s about removing the ban on affirmative action, first passed in 1996. The University of California Board of Regents, headed by Janet Napolitano, supports this bill. Many have absurdly cited the CCP coronavirus pandemic and the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department to say the (ban) of affirmative action should end. Opponents call it nothing more than a racial spoils system designed to grant preferential treatment to some communities of color over others. California Legislature Votes to Allow Discrimination by Race (pjmedia.com)

We’ve installed a new Air Conditioner and there is a terrible amount of work to be accomplished. The highest priority is insulate the ducts against moisture and clean up the living room. I have to run a new duct to the dining room and do a bit of insulating on the ductwork over the living room.

Project Engineering: Layout new ductwork. With a variable speed compressor the temperature drop in the ducts has a much greater affect on the performance. The reason is that the forced air temp can be just a few degrees above the room temperatures. (Meaning that a few degree change becomes a large percentage of the heat/cool capacity into the room.) I’ve doubled the insulation on the 6″ ducts since they had the greatest surface area per volume of air. I’ve also doubled the long trunk line to the Master Bedroom since it’s length and the two 6″ ducts were affecting the air significantly. I don’t currently have a plan for the 8″ duct into the kitchen since I need a 12″ duct to encase the 8″ duct.

My EcoFlow R600 Pro won’t be shipped until 15 January 2021, I should get it in February 2021. Boo!

The COVID numbers have gotten really high from Thanksgiving, in fact they are the highest I’ve ever seen them.

Narrative: I’m skipping the time bullets today. The heater is working pretty well with the majority of the ducts connected back. I used the NodeMCU network to record some data on the performance of the ducts I’ve already installed. (Not Many)

Didn’t sleep as good as i have last couple days, but it wasn’t too bad. We tossed around helping a couple friends with a roll of toilet paper. We put a roll in a plastic bag then headed to the bank since our cash reserves were severely depleted from the Air Conditioner install. We dropped off the TP and headed home for a well deserved nap. I got some more fittings from Amazon today so I assembled the battery cooler components for a test.

The Peltier cooler can either heat the water or cool the water. The idea at present is to put the radiator outside the house and use the cold air from the Peltier cooler to cool the batteries in the summer months.

Feelings: As Christians we are compelled to look after the Widows and the poor. Just how we do that in this climate when there is so much energy fighting the democracy I don’t know.

Researched Philippines Typhoons last month, they took a huge toll on the island. I watched several videos, 3-5 feet of water leaving 3-5″ of mud on everything inside their homes and on the streets. This will take a long time to clean up, I checked the Internet and they were pretty bad off. Homes and crops were destroyed and thousands are displaced without enough food or water. According to CNNCF they anticipate being back to normal by Jan 2021, WOW!

I sent a message to CF asking about our letters we’re missing. They responded with how busy they are with the holiday season and with the COVID-19 delaying their efforts. I wondered if I told them that their pay office could delay their checks because they process thousands of them a month?

Tomorrow: Saturday

Retirement: We’ve spent 10K on an air conditioner, need to make that up.

Purchases: Conservation mode, we’re more than 3 paychecks in the hole.

Repairs:

Religion: We were called to read Luke and comment on the author.

Family News: Going day by day.

Arts:

  • Health: 220Lbs, too heavy.
  • Swollen feet have returned, 20.5″ today. (Yes Potato chips and candy.)

Travel: Florida travel looks well out of reach!

Taxes: 2k refund from Georgia in February.

Pi News: Love em, but no time to play with them.

Media: No Instagram posts today and we’re off Facebook.

Injuries: No injuries.

Accomplishments: None.

Slow morning, I was up very early and the weather was causing me some discomfort so I took a shower in the midnight. The pain subsided and I was able to get some rest until the sun came up. I worked on the piles in the living room this morning, they need an occasional purging. I captured the performance of the air conditioner last night, some adjustments are still in the making.

I turned on the fan and let the Heat Pump cycle a couple times. The graphic below shows the temperature at the end of the two long ducts. I was glad/surprised that the 6″ ducts seem to have the same performance as the single 10″ duct.

I had thoughts of going to THD but never left since it is possible for us to have COVID. I also had thoughts of getting into the attic, didn’t do that either. I did get a couple naps in.

Church tonight so this is probably the last of my writing today.

Well we got up this morning around 7AM and our coffee was waiting on us. No letters on CF or E-Mail from them either. Medium had an article I thought was severely racist so I posted some of it earlier in this page. We have virtual Dr. Appts this morning to renew our prescriptions.

Drove to Grand kids house and bought a Chick Fillet lunch to eat on the way, we took a good nap after getting home. I tried to check on my state tax return and the software portal kept going in circles, i don’t think they are there this week. I checked on our new Natural Gas provider, they have an account but there’s nothing linked to it yet. We checked on our auto insurance ($2K/Year) and we’re getting all this discounts we can.

William (Student) was required for assignments the legal complaint says “to reveal his racial, sexual, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities and religious identities,” by his teacher who greeted the students by saying, “Hello my wonderful social justice warriors!” Clark was told the next step would be to determine if parts of his identity “have privilege or oppression attached to it.” Privilege was defined as “the inherent belief in the inferiority of the oppressed group.”

While Trump has referred to Critical Race Theory by name, the executive order does not, instead describing it as a “malign ideology [that] is now migrating from the fringes of American society and threatens to infect core institutions of our country,” including in “workplace diversity trainings across the country, even in components of the Federal Government and among Federal contractors.”

It is an ideology “rooted in the pernicious and false belief that America is an irredeemably racist and sexist country; that some people, simply on account of their race or sex, are oppressors; and that racial and sexual identities are more important than our common status as human beings and Americans.” High School Student Sues Over Leftist ‘Indoctrination’ in Nevada (theepochtimes.com)

We slept in this morning, woke up at 8AM and we looked at each other WOW. Coffee was ready, it had been brewed two hours earlier, LOL. We cancelled our appointments given the risk of COVID-19 this week. Called CF, their response was very political and not very practical. We’re considering cancelling our sponsorships and giving to another charity.

It’s been very cold the last couple days and that has given me an opportunity to see how well our new heat pump works. (Along with the new ductwork I’ve spent months installing.) I also found out that our dryer vent needs to be replaced, very cold air is entering the house through the dryer at night.

At 3AM in the morning I enabled fossil fuel

I worked on cleaning up the messes all through the house since the flood and moving the church out of the school. I also tested the water pump that I got for Christmas and promptly destroyed it with 24 volts. (Instead of 12V) I need some barbed fittings that I ordered today.

It was a VERY Cold morning but our new Air Conditioner / Heat Pump worked like a champ. (Did not need to use fossil fuel.)

The bedroom did get a little warm even with it being very cold outside. Apparently there is more insulation in that room as it gained heat until we opened the doors.

The current thought is to zone the bedroom with a separate thermostat and a 6″ duct valve, both of which I already have in hand. Time for breakfast then a nap.

Cleaned up the insulation from the driveway. I had removed the insulation from the old flexible ducts that connected my cave so that I could try and make a 8x6x6 Wye that had less mass. It didn’t turn out very good just using the flexible ducts, I’ll need some stiff material for the next generation.

Took another nap, we like our naps. There was a fairly large ant pile in the back yard that I sprinkled some bait onto.

24 Dec 2020, Christmas Eve

Status: Sheltering in place, we have plenty of food and supplies.

This is about all I have left of my parents.

(Not Many)

I sent a message to CF asking about our letters we’re missing, they’ve not responded.

Tomorrow: Christmas.

Strange day today, we’re having groceries delivered later and I have to make a run to the liquor store for some drinkables. Made my usual 4 eggs for breakfast and then worked on a cable so that I could control the attic fans from the garage NodeMCU. The cable simply breaks one side of the pair of wires with a connector that connects to the NodeMCU relay. I ran up all three fans and checked the airflow into the eve vents using a ladder and a sliver of tissue paper. The result was that the wind had more to do with the airflow than the three fans did.

The wife went to the eye doctor and I went to the liquor store with the blue Ford Focus that hadn’t been driven in a while. No issue with getting the suds and I returned home since it’s just plain dangerous to be out in this raised risk of COVID. Family wants me to visit the Doc about my foot and I totally blew my opportunity to put off the appointment with the intestines’ doctor. I need to call them on Christmas Eve and cancel the appointment for Monday.

Busy day planned today. Checked Childfund and no letters, I am so bummed. I spent the morning cutting out the crossbars from a radiator fan to reduce the drag on the air flowing through the fan. There were numerous complaints about this fan being used to “PUSH” air into a radiator.

They claim poor performance even when the blades are reversed. I didn’t know how many I could remove without affecting the strength of the motor support in the center. I’ll start with three rows, I can take more of them out, but it’s messy with all the pieces flying around.

We drove to the kids house and delivered some presents before eating Chick Fillet outside with them. After getting back to the house I pulled the motor out of the powered vent in the roof so that I could use a DC radiator fan instead. I climbed back into the attic and mounted the 14″ radiator fan underneath the vent. (You can see the screen to the outside through the running fan blades.)

I don’t know if there is more air with this single 14″ or with the two 12″ fans, it’s awfully close when you run the numbers. I might get up into an Eve vent and measure the amount of air entering the attic…
