Status: Sheltering in place, we have plenty of food and supplies.

We’ve installed a new Air Conditioner and there is a terrible amount of work to be accomplished. The highest priority is insulate the ducts against moisture and clean up the living room. I have to run a new duct to the living room and bedroom to give the air handler more flow. There’s a 8″ and a 10″ trunk which is 600CFM, we need one more 8″ duct from the plenum to make 800CFM.

Need to sort the church audio stuff and get it back into storage. (out of the living room and Bedroom) Then get the stuff I moved from my cave out of the living room.

My EcoFlow R600 Pro won’t be shipped until the end of the month, I should get it around Christmas.

Tell me, how many nights have you almost missed the sunset? How many arguments have you almost won? How many mistakes have you almost made? How many cities have you almost flown to? How many snapshots have you almost taken?

Narrative: I’m skipping the time bullets today. We got up and are drinking our Dominican Coffee this morning, it’s delicious! Slept pretty good, the outside temperatures are very moderate at 65 degrees. The dehumidifier runs a lot but the air conditioner is idle for the most part.

I’m up, waiting on the Coffee to brew, reading about tearing down statues by vandalism. They have the advantage, peacefully protest to the base of the statue and then put a chain around it to pull it down. Then march away peacefully as a “Mostly Peaceful Protest” like they’ve been doing for BLM International all year.

Sometimes we happen upon a really cool feature of our home electronics. Our new 10K$ A/C unit came with an online application called Nexia and I just found out that it integrates with Home Assistant (NodeMCU). I can now graph the run percentages of the compressor and whether it is heating or cooling! I also get temp and humidity readings from the thermostat graphed as well. Can’t wait until I have a couple days worth of data to compare all the other sensors. I have a remote thermostat that i keep in the bedroom with a tiny (200W) temp controlled personal heater to put the finishing touches on the temperature. The Air conditioner keeps it below 76 degrees and the heaters keep it at/above 74 degrees. (Within .3 degrees) Heaters can cycle quickly with very little latent heat.

I found out today that the dehumidifier cycles every six minutes because the fan runs a minute or so after the compressor shuts off. This dries out the coils and raises the humidity more than 2% in the living room, which in turn turns the dehumidifier right back on. The fix is to use Home Assistant to turn off the Dehumidifier and not let it’s fan push the moisture right back into the air.

Checked the news while I was eating my eggs this morning, Georgia is in the news with inconsistencies in their counts. The race was VERY close in this state, it will be interesting how this plays out.

CF must be getting pretty tired of all the letters we’re pushing through. It’s been three years trying to get a consistent process for something they hold key to their type of sponsorship. I think we’ve written 32 letters in a month, that aught to keep them busy.

Slept a lot today, it’s been an emotional week with all the drama sucking up our emotions. I need to get back on the job with moving stuff into storage.

We watched Biden & Harris give their speeches last night. Harris sure made a point of being a women of color elected as Vice President. (Some of us are expecting upward mobility with this aging President.) The country seems delighted to have voted Mr. Trump out of a second term, which doesn’t happen very often.

It is going to be very interesting what BLM does with the new leadership. I think the American people are changing their prospective on the violence and becoming intolerant. BLM had white privileged American’s on the run most of this year, I think that is changing. I think BIPOC Americans are also voicing their concerns over Systemic Racism diluting the singularity of the BLM message. (That they care only about the Black men are being abused by the police.)

Well, time to prepare for Zoom church service this morning. We’ve eaten breakfast and taken a nice hot shower already. People in South America take cool showers as they don’t usually have hot water. It is too funny having both faucets in the sink and only one of them works…

Checked on my R600 Pro (Solar Generator), looks like it won’t ship for two more weeks. Boo! A Hurricane is headed for my mom in Florida next week.

Dinner was chicken legs and whole kernel corn.

I worked on my traveling inverter labeling the wires and flipping the connectors so that they can’t be inadvertently connected incorrectly. (Keyed) The idea is that someone in our family looses power and we can bring this box to provide power for a short duration. If a longer duration is required then I bring a generator and gasoline to charge the batteries the following day.

Home Assistant: I am still rebuilding the Home Assistant software and scripts from the crash last week. I added the dehumidifier back onto the Raspberry Pi this morning and wrote the routines to turn it on and off. I also updated the HA core software to the latest version today. The file editor plug-in was out of date so I updated that as well. Two of the NodeMCU’s had the old firmware in them, they’ve been updated and connected to the new instance of HA.

Narrative: I’m skipping the time bullets today. It’s been a crazy day and long hours at the computer. I started the day on CF’s website trying to find letters that should have been in the system for 6 months or more. The website is pretty clunky for a company who’s five top executives pull a salary of 1.2Million dollars from donations to a non profit. I have been trying to get the letter writing and delivery process repaired for more than three years. We’ve made progress but i’ve also spent hours and hours keeping things moving.

The election has really drained the two of us, hours and hours of video with no end in sight. We are also a little worried that reparations will now be part of the Dem’s agenda and we’re 26T$ in debt even without the latest stimulus package. California and Ashville North Carolina already are engaged on preparing some kind of reparations package. How about all the doctors / Lawyers that got Black only scholarships to pay for their schooling. (Are they getting reparations too?) Anything that they come up with will be paid for by city/state taxes. (Whether they had benefited from slaves or not.) The states are looking to the Feds to bail them out of the COVID-19 costs, where is there all the money that they plan to use for reparations. (It’s certainly not coming from defunding the police.)

We went grocery shopping today and there were no lanes open except the self checkout. Running a full basket of groceries through the self checkout takes a lot of time. We also found out that the self checkout machines don’t have all the produce loaded. (They had Organic Roma tomatoes but not regular ones.) So we had to choose the Organic one and pay the 20c price hike. I checked all the organic tomatoes had stickers, the non organic didn’t have them. The clerk had a sheet to manually enter a code which wasn’t available to everybody using the lanes. I think they aught to give them up for free since they have a price guarantee because every item is not marked with a price.

Mowed the last of the lawn today, i hadn’t used the lawn mower in so long the the battery management discharged the batteries to 20%. That is supposed to extend the battery life but is disruptive to using the batteries in an emergency. (You’d have to charge the batteries just before EVERY emergency to know you could rely on them.

We write letters with no knowledge if they ever get to the child. The child writes a letter every month and we don’t get them for a year at a time.

“If we wish to establish racial equality or gender equality, or equality in any social structure — acknowledge that we can’t pick and choose who gets to be a part of the equality equation. As a humanitarian, before any label that I associate with myself; I hope we recognize that we can only resolve our issues through respect and humility. Through recognizing that it’s not okay to simply “demand” respect whilst belittling an entire culture.” medium.com/in-defense-of-white-people
